Swim, Kitesurf or Windsurf on Merimbula Beach

Merimbula Main beach is a stroll across a laneway and aside from being a great place to swim, it’s also renowned for being a great place to Kitesurf and Windsurf. So get the kit out and take advantage of the summer winds.

Enjoy a fishing trip in the Lake or Ocean

Merimbula is a popular fishing destination with a wide variety of fishing options from shore or boat. Catches might include Snapper, Bream, Trevally and Leatherjacket, deep sea fishing is also possible with some well-known reef peaks east of Merimbula.

Visit an Oyster Farm and taste fresh Oysters

Oysters have been farmed in Merimbula Lake since the 1900s and it is now a key producer of around 165,000 dozen oysters annually. The oysters are grown in the wide flats of the Lake and are enjoyed around Australia and the world.

Explore Potaroo Place Animal Sanctuary

About ten minutes from Merimbula in the beautiful Bega Valley, savour the rare opportunity to see a koala, wander among the kangaroos, touch a snake, stroll through the cooling mist of the walk-through aviary, go for a ride on the mini train or have lunch and really good coffee at the Blue Wren Café.
